The group started to gain recognition after they competed in the gospel talent contest and signed with Stax imprint Gospel Truth. The group released over 25 albums and was nominated for Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album for the 1991 album, Phenomenon.
He was the senior pastor of the New Bethel Church of God In Christ in Toledo, Ohio. He was elevated to the office of Bishop in the Church of God in Christ for the Michigan Northwest Harvest Jurisdiction in 2011.
